Traffic Update:<\/strong>
From 4:00 PM on 17-01-2026 to 4:00 PM on 18-01-2026<\/strong>, traffic on NH-44<\/strong> moved slowly. This was due to single-lane stretches<\/strong> at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather. Traffic was also affected because two heavy vehicles broke down<\/strong> on the highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important Advice for Travelers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Passengers and light vehicle drivers are advised to travel only during daytime<\/strong> on the Jammu\u2013Srinagar National Highway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Night travel is not recommended<\/strong> due to the risk of falling stones, landslides, and ongoing road construction between Ramban and Banihal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Please follow lane discipline<\/strong>. Wrong-side driving and unnecessary overtaking can cause traffic jams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    \n\n\n\n

    NH-44 (Jammu\u2013Srinagar National Highway)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • If weather and road conditions remain good, all types of vehicles<\/strong> (passenger vehicles, private cars, buses, and goods carriers) will be allowed to move from both Jammu and Srinagar sides<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Traffic Control Units (TCU) at Jammu and Srinagar will stay in touch with TCU Ramban<\/strong> for road updates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      \n\n\n\n

      Security Forces Convoy Movement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Security Forces vehicles will be allowed to move from both sides<\/strong> on NH-44, subject to good weather and road conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Convoys must confirm road status from TCU Ramban<\/strong> before starting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
        \n\n\n\n

        Kishtwar\u2013Sinthan\u2013Anantnag Road (NH-244)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        • This road is closed<\/strong> for all vehicles due to fresh snowfall<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
          \n\n\n\n

          Srinagar\u2013Sonamarg\u2013Gumari (SSG) Road<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          • If weather and road conditions are safe and BRO gives clearance, traffic will be allowed from Kargil to Srinagar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Vehicles will be allowed to move from Minamarg to Srinagar between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • First light vehicles will move, followed by heavy vehicles (up to 6 tyres).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Anti-skid chains are mandatory<\/strong> due to slippery roads.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Security Forces convoys should plan their movement so that civil traffic is not affected<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
            \n\n\n\n

            Mughal Road<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
              \n
            • If weather is clear and road agencies (GREF) give approval, light vehicles and private cars with anti-skid chains<\/strong> will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar sides via Poonch<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Movement timings:\n

              • From Chandimarh (Baffliaz) to Shopian:<\/strong> 10:30 AM \u2013 2:30 PM<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • From Herpora (Shopian) to Poonch:<\/strong> 10:30 AM \u2013 2:30 PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • No vehicle will be allowed after the cut-off time<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
