Srinagar: The Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy weather across Kashmir till January 15, bringing brief relief from extreme cold conditions during the daytime. However, night temperatures are expected to remain low, especially in the higher reaches of the Valley.
Meanwhile, a fog advisory has been issued for the Jammu division, where dense fog during early morning and late evening hours may affect visibility. Authorities have warned that fog could disrupt road traffic, particularly on highways and in low-lying areas.
Weather officials said that while no major snowfall is expected in the plains during this period, light snowfall may occur in higher mountainous regions. The weather is likely to remain dry overall, with intermittent cloud cover helping slightly improve night temperatures.
Authorities have advised residents and travelers, especially those heading to higher altitude areas, to remain alert and follow local weather updates. They warned that weather conditions in mountainous regions can change quickly during winter, posing risks such as slippery roads, reduced visibility, and sudden temperature drops.
Travelers have been urged to check road conditions before starting their journeys and to take necessary precautions while driving in fog-prone areas of the Jammu division.
The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the situation and will issue further advisories if weather conditions change.
